Lead Based Paint Hazards
The hazard created by old lead based paint (LBP) in homes can be very dangerous. Persistent elevated blood level in young children is believed to cause permanent damage to the brain and nervous system. Homes built before 1978 may contain LBP, and it is particularly common in homes built before 1950. The following agencies are currently involved in addressing LBP hazards in our community:
Buncombe County Health Center (828-250-5016)
